Last year, Trent students travelled across the UK and beyond raising a massive £258,696.21 for local, national and international charities.

The RAG committee arranged a variety of fundraising events which saw NTU students do everything from Escape and Evade across Europe raising £5,329.70, to jumping out of planes and boarding the party Bus to visit a mystery city.  Collectively, RAG events throughout the year raised £24,162.75 for our elected charities MDNA, The Lullaby Trust and Operation Orphan.  The charities were delighted to receive the donations from Nottingham Trent RAG and extremely grateful for all our students’ support throughout the year.

Rag Week was a great success in term two, with twelve different events and a generous donation to the charities from the library of £3,790 raised from student fines paid during the week.

The annual charity Varsity series saw the Trent army face Uni of Nottingham in 12 different sporting events at a number of Nottingham’s most prestigious sporting venues.  Thousands of students showed their support cheering on our fantastic sporting teams, raising an incredible £24,154 for the Nottinghamshire branch of Headway in the process.

124 more students and student team-leaders worked hard to fundraise for their Big Climbs up Kilimanjaro, to Everest Basecamp and across The Great Wall of China. Including donations from students taking part in the Big Build Volunteering project in Morocco, students collectively raised a phenomenal £210,379.46 for Childreach International.  So far, with help from NTSU students, Childreach have been able to help to over 600,000 children and their families.

Well done to every student who contributed to RAG this year; the money RAG raises is so important to the charities we support.  This year RAG aims to be bigger and better so don’t miss your chance and do get involved. See www.trentstudents.org/rag or email rag@su.ntu.ac.uk for more information.
