Understand your money in minutes
On the whole, Nottingham is a very safe place to live. Despite the negative reputation the media tried to impose on our city a few years ago it is generally a pleasant and relaxed place to be. As one of the smaller UK cities, it has many of the benefits of a larger city (such as great nightlife) without all of the complications (difficult transport, living far out from the centre). Nottingham is also surrounded by lots of green space and countryside, so it is really worth stepping beyond the city boundary once in a while.
However, like any city, it still has crime-related problems and, though there is no need to walk around carrying a fear of crime with you everywhere you go, it is sensible to make yourself aware of the issues and the best ways to minimise your risk of exposure to them. This section offers advice on all kind of community & safety issues from fire prevention and personal safety to travelling around the city and local places of interest.
