The City campus is the main campus of NTU.
NTSU operations at our City site are based in Byron House on Shakespeare Street.
Here you will find The Pulse and SUB bars serving food and drink through the day and hosting entertainments events in the evenings which vary from stand-up comedy, niche music nights, live bands and large-scale club nights. There is also a cafe in the conservatory of The Pulse serving fresh Costa coffee and tasty treats all day, giving you a chance to refuel and relax. We also have independent market traders who regularly set up stalls in our buildings selling everything from vintage fashion and jewellery to computer supplies and posters, so if you are on campus, it is always worth popping into NTSU to see what is happening.
The ground floor of Byron House is also where you will find our nationally accredited Student Advice Centre, which can offer you professional advice on a variety of topics from money to educational and personal issues. The reception area is at the front of the building and is the place to go for general enquiries. This area also contains the Jobshop, where you can find the latest vacancies for part-time or even full-time work. Your Elected Board of Directors can be found in the open office area at the back of the building, along with your Societies co-ordinator, who can help you get involved in any of the societies we offer to students at Trent. Also based here is the Student Volunteering co-ordinator who can help you get involved with Initi8 volunteering or RaG fundraising.
Upstairs houses the Trent Media trio of Platform magazine, Fly FM and Trent TV studios, so if you want to reach the world at large, get involved in these activities, meet new people and develop your media skills. The Membership Services department is also located upstairs and houses staff who can help you develop your skills with Stride training. This is also where campaigns and elections are co-ordinated.
At the rear of the first floor is the Entertainments department, where all night-time events, activities and publicity are co-ordinated.
NTSU also runs SU Express, an on-campus shop catering to your needs. It’s in the Chaucer building, near the tram stop and sells useful items such as groceries, sandwiches, meal deals, chocolate, pick n mix, lots of offers, phone top ups, stationery and branded clothing.
