There is a simple yet effective structure in place for the governance and representation of Societies at NTSU. By level of authority from top to bottom, here is how it works:

Societies Assembly
The Societies Assembly is the highest decision making body relevant to societies. It consisits of the VP Societies and a representative from every society. The Assembly votes on the affiliation of new societies.
Code of Practice
The Code of Practice is our democratically agreed governing document, it contains rules, regulations and policies relevant to societies and agreed upon by all societies.
Societies Management Committee (SMC)
Accountable to Assembly, the SMC meets regularly to discuss the day to day support of all societies and presides over grant allocation, fairness, key events. The committee pre-approves affiliations.
Multi-Faith Forum
Consisting of members of the University Chaplaincy and representatives from all faith societies, this committee meets to discuss and promote cohesion and the advancement of these societies.
VP Societies
Accountable not just to SMC and Assembly, but all students; the Vice President is the chief representative of societies. As an elected director of the Students' Union, the VP is able to effect change for the benefit of societies at the highest level.
