Creswell Crags & Sherwood Forest

£6 (plus booking fee - to avoid paying booking fee please purchase from Welcome Week ticket points)

Venture to Creswell Crags in Derbyshire, a limestone gorge honeycombed with caves and smaller fissures. Featuring the Ice Age tour of Robin Hood’s Cave (sensible footwear required), there will also be time to visit the on-site exhibition, gorge and (if you wish) café. We’ll then head over to Sherwood Forest to explore Robin Hood’s haunts, including the Major Oak.  Either bring a packed lunch or pick up something from Creswell or Sherwood Forest. A good one to bring the kids to!

Creswell Crags museum and gorge are fully accessible, with adapted toilets. The cave part of the tour is not suitable for wheelchairs. The museum has induction loops. Sherwood Forest visitor centre also has good access. The path to the Major Oak is well-surfaced and mostly level. Please email welcome.week@ntu.ac.uk if you would like to come on this trip and have accessibility requirements, so that we can make transport arrangements.

“If you are based at Brackenhurst and would like to come on this trip, note that the first bus into Nottingham arrives at 09:55, which is too late.

If you would like us to arrange free transport to get you from Brackenhurst to Nottingham in time for the trip, email welcome.week@ntu.ac.uk . We will then be in touch to tell you where and when your transport to Nottingham will pick you up.”
