STUDENT VOLUNTEERING WEEK 2012

 

Monday 20th February

Volunteering Fair: 11am - 1.15pm

Newton Foyer

Find out about how you can get involved in volunteering with the Students Union, University and external organisations. Just drop by!

 

Free Shop: 2pm - 4pm

Upstairs room, Spanky Van Dykes

That's right - it's a FREE shop! Come have a look at unwanted items and donate your own if you like!  Everything will be Free! (Donations welcomed by the Free Shop).

 

Tuesday 21st February

Pancake Day at Radford Care Group: 10.30 - 1.30pm

 We’re going to be cooking up some pancakes and having a chat with the service users at Radford Care Group.
Please meet at city SU* at 10am and we will provide transport to the centre.

*Unfortunately we will not be able to provide a pick up from Clifton or Brackenhurst, however, if you are travelling from these sites please keep your bus ticket and we will be happy to reimburse your travel costs.Please sign up here for this event. Find out how you can use your culture in our volunteering opportunities. Learn more about the projects abroad we are currently running and our existing cultural volunteering opportunities. There will also be the opportunity to make origami cranes, so come along and take yours home!

 Mad Hatter’s Tea Party – 2-4pm

Free tea and cakes! All you have to is bring your lovely selves and be prepared to chat about mental health. In conjunction with the ‘Time to Change’ campaign and ‘Mind’ we want to help end mental health stigma and discrimination and we want to start by talking about it.

Thursday 23rd February

Wii games, Cake Decorating, Pampering & Jewellery Making with the Elderly - 11-1pm

Church Croft Community Centre, West Bridgford, NG2 6BA

This session will be like a skills share with the elderly! Meet us there or specify a pick up point when you sign up.

 

Friday 24th February

Drumming workshops with Emmanuel House

Emmanuel House for the homeless - 10am-12.30pm

No specialist skills required - we'll be heading to Emmanuel House to drum - African style - with Nottingham's homeless community and the expert tuition of Peter, the drummer.  Sign up now by emailing laura.buckland@su.ntu.ac.uk
