HOW TO GET HOMESAFE!!
Picture the scene: it’s the end of a drink-fuelled night, you have a kebab or chips cheese and mayo in your hand and you’re thinking about how to get home. You have two choices; you can either walk or catch a taxi. This part of the website is designed to give you all the information that you need to get HomeSafe!!
Walking HomeSafe!!
So you’ve chosen to walk home? If you live on the other end of the city then this decision may not be too wise and this choice is potentially more dangerous than getting a taxi.
IS IT WORTH IT?
· Remember that your welfare is worth more than a taxi fare
· Try not to walk home alone, always walk with friends. Any would-be mugger will be put off by crowds of people. Don’t let yourself be an easy target.
· If your friends are not around try to follow a group of people or ask if you can walk with them.
· Do not advertise your mobile phone. If your phone is stolen then call your network or immobilise it by calling 08701 123123 and register it at www.immobilise.com
· iPod headphones are a clear indication to people that you’re carrying an expensive piece of kit! Purchase some black headphones or preferably don’t have them on display.
· If your holding a handbag put it under your jacket so its not on display
· Try to stay in well lit areas.
· When walking home be quiet, don’t draw attention to yourselves and respect the local community.
GET CHARMED!!
· Want to be protected even more against street crime? We have a number of Charm Alarm/Personal Attack Alarms, key rings available for £1 at any Union Central.
· If you fear for your safety when you’re walking around pull the cord and the charm alarms let out a 120db screech!! Enough to startle any person trying to assault you and raises the alarm to people near by.
