The National Blood Service are back at Nottingham Trent University for Year 2!

It had been many years since the National Blood Service had visited Trent, but in 08/09 we managed to host two sessions and attracted staggering numbers of people to donate, many first timers.

The National Blood Service is once again visiting Nottingham Trent University to hold blood sessions in March this term. Two blood donation sessions are occurring at the venue and times below:

Thursday 5th November
Refectory, Byron House, Nottingham Trent Students Union
Session 1: 10:00am – 1:00pm
Session 2: 2:00pm – 4:30pm

Monday 15th March

Refectory, Byron House, Nottingham Trent Students Union
Session 1: 10:00am – 1:00pm
Session 2: 2:00pm – 4:30pm

From start to finish, giving blood takes approximately 1 hour.

Here are a few things you should know before coming along to give blood:

  • You must be at least 17 years old
  • You must weigh at least 50kg (7st 12lbs)
  • You must wait 6 months after any piercing or tattoo
  • You must wait 24 hours after going to the dentist, even if it was just for a filling or scale and polish
  • You must wait 6 months after visiting any malarial area in the world
  • Please have a snack and a drink (water or soft drink) before you donate

No appointments are necessary so please feel to come down and donate with your mates. Giving blood is an easy way to save someone’s life, and for your holistic act you will be rewarded with free tea and biscuits, along with freebies to take away.
