Hi, I'm Olivia.

I'm NTSU's VP Community & Welfare, and I’m here to provide support for students in all aspects of their welfare. I aim to tackle any issues they’re facing during their time at University to ensure they’re having the safest, most enjoyable time possible!

What I'm working on:

  • Facilitated Freshers week alongside the Officer team
  • Became a trained on consent facilitator and led numerous consent workshops for fresher rep captains and first year students
  • Trained the Fresher Rep Team in key areas such as Alcohol and Drugs Mental Health and assisted overall fresher rep training
  • Attended a Climate Fresk Workshop, to enhance my understanding of the climate crisis; it’s causes, consequences, and global solutions.
  • Undertook Suicide Bereavement Training and specific Men’s Mental Health Training 
  • Undertook specific Gas and Solvent Use Training
  • Represented NTSU at Wellbeing and Safety Fairs
  • Attended a Nottingham Citizens Meeting to see what is currently happening in Nottingham and Discuss How we can engage local MPs to help students with NTSU President.
  • Assited the visit with Her Royal Highness, Princess of Wales around Clifton Campus, discussed mental health and what the university are doing to support students with their mental health and wellbeing.
  • Worked with the rest of NTSU on Black History Month Projects
  • Had a successful CIty Men’s Mental Health Fair to promote NTU Movember Ambassadors, alongside other organisations such as The Wolfpack Project, Kooth, Equation and Harmless 
  • Had a highly engaged boxing event called “Punch Out Your Anxieties” lead by Jawaid Khaliq, a former professional boxer
  • Collaborated with NTU Sport with their Moves app, by having a challenge for Movember. The challenge was to walk 60,000 steps to raise awareness that 60 men per hour commit suicide globally. 507 people joined the challenge which is amazing! It's the most people we've had join a challenge this year 😊! 
  • Launched Man-Down, a campaign to destigmatise Men’s Mental Health

  • Attending Train the Trainer Course lead by Student Minds on Look After Your Mates Course

  • Reviewing the current safety maps and creating a clear one to highlight the safe places and SOS points in a clearer way

  • Working with VP Postgrad to create an awareness of students knowing their legal rights

  • In progress of re-reviewing Night Time Economy Bystander Intervention which bar staff will be trained in late November and Generic Bystander intervention rolled out in term two

  • Male Mental Health Champions, a collaboration with NTU

  • Planning campaigns for term two:

  •  Neurodiversity Awareness Campaign

  •  Alcohol and Drug Awareness

  • Sexual and Violence and Awareness Week,

 

  • Sexual Health and Guidance Fair: which destigmatises the taboo around sexual health, this will be introduced in April to coincide with Testicular cancer awareness month
