Is there any other way to buy tickets?

You can also purchase tickets in person at the City Students’ Union office. Ask the Customer Service Representatives at the Welcome Desk and they will direct you. If you are based at Clifton or Brackenhurst campus please contact info@su.ntu.ac.uk for more information.

How long in advance do I have to book onto a trip to make sure I get a place?

This depends on the trip; it could be two months in advance or two weeks! The trips are often very popular so we recommend booking as soon as you can to avoid disappointment.

What happens if I am ill or busy and can no longer make the trip?

Unfortunately we only offer refunds for situations which are under our control as some attractions and accommodation have to be paid for in advance. However we are more than happy to put your ticket back up for sale on the website, and if someone else purchases we would then provide you with a full refund.

What transport is used?

We travel using a Union minibus with either 9 or 15 seats. This is why the capacity of trips can seem very low.

What is the accommodation like?

All weekend breaks stay in Travelodge hotels. This is a well-known, budget UK hotel chain. Rooms are either twin (with two single beds) or family rooms (one double bed and one sofa-bed) with two students in each room. Towels are provided however toiletries such as shower gel are not. Breakfast is also not included in the price but often available at the hotel if you wish to purchase it.

Where is the accommodation?

The hotel is usually around 5 miles out of the city centre. While this is some distance we arrange a time to meet in the evening and drive everyone back to the hotel. If you wish to stay in the city after the meeting time you are more than welcome to but will have to make your own way back to the hotel and pay for your own transport such as a taxi or bus.

Is food provided?

No meals are included in the price of your ticket. On all trips there are a number of places available to purchase food however you are also welcome to bring your own lunch.

Where is the meeting point?

For trips that start at 9am or later the meeting point is the main steps outside the Newton building on City campus. For trips starting earlier you will be asked to select which campus you would like to be collected from as you book your tickets. Please be aware this changes the start time of your trip and you should check your emails in the week prior for up to date information.

At Clifton the pickup point is the main bus stop on campus (where the number 4 bus stops).

At Brackenhurst the pickup point is the main visitor car park behind the library.

Can I bring a guest who is not a student on a trip?

You are able to bring one guest who is not an NTU student. To do this you simply have to purchase two spaces online or in person.

Are there any extra things I will have to pay for on the trips?

Other than your food, this depends on what you would like to visit. On every trip you are given a map of the local area and popular attractions you may want to see. If you choose to visit these then you will have to pay the entry fee yourself, however visiting them is not compulsory.
