We are run by a team of officers (more commonly known as the Exec) who are elected annually and are accountable to the entire student body. We offer a variety of opportunities to enhance your university experience, from socialising and personal development to representation and advice. Below you can find out more information about them.
As a democratic organisation, NTSU is run by you, our members. You have the power to make changes to your University experience through a variety of democratic processes. Electing your Exec officers in our annual elections and submitting Big Ideas for improvements you’d like to see at the University or Students’ Union are just a couple of them.
The Students’ Union has a building on all three campuses which are designed to be your home away from home. Wi-Fi enabled bars, diners and coffee shops, a 30ft climbing wall and a 2000-capacity entertainment venue are just some of what you’ll find inside. The money spent in our trading outlets is used to fund the other services we provide our members.
From weekly club nights and pub quizzes to clothing sales and day trips across the country, our entertainments team are devoted to bringing you the best events and entertainment so that, no matter your taste or campus of study, you can experience student life at NTU to the full. See what’s coming up on our current events page.
As well as our events, we offer a wide range of opportunities for all students to get involved in alongside their studies. Our societies and communities are a chance to meet new people, develop new skills and try new things - we have over 130 of them you can join ranging form knitting to gaming. We also have a volunteering programme for those of you interested in helping others and developing skills to boost your CV. You can find out more about all of our opportunities here.
Student wellbeing is one of our top priorities, which is why we have our own Information and Advice Service that provides free, independent and confidential advice to all students at Nottingham Trent University. Whether you’re looking for guidance on money management, mental health, housing or your studies, they’re here to help. You can pre-book appointments with our advisors here on our website.
We work alongside NTU to give all students at Trent access to inclusive sporting opportunities during their time at uni. You can compete as part of a team by joining one of more than 50 sports clubs or play for fun if you’d prefer.
As we are a not for profit organisation, the money you spend in our shops, venues and events is reinvested to fund services, opportunities and representation activity for our members. Services like our venues on campus, our societies, communities, Academic Reps, Give It A Go programme, personal development opportunities, wellbeing support, event production, and our award-winning Information & Advice Service.
The best way to support our services that enhance your student experience is to be a regular customer in our venues.
