Advice & Support ► Advice & Support

Most students at NTU are living away from their parents for the first time. While your new-found freedoms will be enjoyable on the whole, the flipside of this situation is that you do not have the on-hand support of parents, siblings or other family members if things start to get stressful. NTSU appreciates that students may find themselves needing help with difficult situations from time to time, which is why we offer a support and advice network covering a wide range of issues which may affect you during your time at NTU.

Got a problem? Our Student Advice Centre has a presence on all 3 campuses. This will probably be your first port of call for most issues you need support with. The SAC offers free and confidential advice to all NTU students; the most common enquiries being related to money and accommodation. As our staff are employed by the Student Union, we can offer impartial advice relating to your course without the risk of a conflict of interest.

As well as the SAC, your elected Welfare & Involvement Officer will be able to provide you with support & advice as well as put you in touch with specialist advisors. In this section you will find a wealth of information covering the issues most likely to affect you while at uni; money, accommodation, health & diet, welfare, drugs and alcohol. We have also provided you with some resources such as a downloadable budget calculator which may help you resolve certain problems yourself.

Your Welfare Officer is also actively involved in running promotional campaigns aimed at raising awareness about issues ranging from finding a house to healthy eating, so keep an eye out for campaign materials as they often contain lots of useful information.

If there are other issues you would like advice on, please contact your welfare officer so that we can look to expand this online Support & Advice section.
