With only 1 day to go before our elections close, we thought it would be good to highlight some of the benefits of voting…
The more votes we get, the stronger your SU will be. This helps us be more effective in delivering results for students. This increases student satisfaction and keeps us high in the national rankings. Studying at a high-ranking university adds value to your degree and helps your employability in the future.
Students who get involved with the Students’ Union consistently report that it helps with their personal development provides lots of opportunities to have fun and make friends and generally helps them have a more fulfilling university experience. All of the candidates standing in our elections have their own ideas as to what we, as a union, should be doing for our members. If you vote, you can make sure that their priorities align most closely with yours.
As mentioned in point 2, by voting, you can choose the candidates who are proposing to do the things that are most relevant to you. That is a huge upside. There is no upside to not voting, only the downside of letting someone else decide who gets to represent you.
If you are a final year student who feels that you won’t benefit from voting as you will have graduated by the time the elections winners come into office then hold that thought. Now let it go. As a current student, don’t you hope that previous students made the right decisions to benefit you while you were here? Of course you do. Now you have the chance to do the same. Pay it forward.
This may or may not be something you care about, but if this is something you want, the only way to get it is to vote and help us reach our target of 7,500 individual voters.
