How long have you been involved in your sport and what inspired you to become Club President?

I've only been involved in American Football since I came to university. After becoming more and more involved in different aspects of the club and the team growing close to my heart, I wanted the opportunity to be able to continue the work of previous committees in improving the club.

Give us a quick overview of what a day in the life of being president is like.

Most of the time I'm corresponding with NTU Sport addressing particular issues. I'm also in contact with the rest of the committee and the coaches pretty much everyday making sure everything is in order.

What's been your proudest achievement so far?

The main thing that stands out so far this season is travelling up to play a Durham team with 10 American scholars on the first game of the season and running them close right to the final whistle in a game we should have won. This showed everybody that we rightfully deserve our place playing among the top 10 teams in the country.

What's been your toughest challenge?

Preparing for this season. A lot of work has gone in from everybody involved in the team in order to get everybody into the right physical condition for this season, including running 3 S&C sessions a week starting at 7am.

What aims do you have for the rest of the academic year?

Our aim is to win a number of games this year and get into the playoffs. Once we are in the playoffs anything can happen and we won't be putting limits on our success.

What's the best thing about being a President?

The best thing is the rewarding feeling that you get when the team has success, knowing that the hard work everybody has put in has paid off.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking about running for President next year?

A cliche answer but it would be to put 100% into it. Use the rest of the committee as they're the people who you should rely on the most. I would also never be afraid to contact former presidents to ask for advice.
