Here at NTSU, we strive to promote, embed, and champion equality, diversity, and inclusion—a crucial part of our values.

We pride ourselves on having a positive, proactive, and informed attitude to accessibility and strive to provide the best possible experience on-campus and online for all our members.

Here's an overview of recent work we have carried out to improve accessibility regarding our venues and services. We continuously review our processes and improve our facilities to allow for better inclusivity. If you have any suggestions or comments, please get in touch.

Website accessibility button

We offer a wide range of accessibility and language support tools via the Recite Me accessibility tool found at the top of our website. This tool supports the 20% of the population who may encounter barriers when exploring our website due to a disability, learning difficulty, visually impartment, or if English is their second language.

The assistive toolbar includes screen reading functionality, multiple reading aids, customisable styling options, and on-demand live translation.

Our spaces

NTSU is accessible with lift access and/or ramps across all floors on campuses with multiple floors and levels at Clifton and City. There are also accessible toilets across all three of our buildings at City, Clifton and Brackenhurst.

You can find the full accessibility details of our spaces here via AccessAble. The stage spaces at Clifton and City are currently stair access only.

You can also view online maps, floor plans and route planners through the MazeMap App on Google PlayApple App Store or online:

Clifton Students' Union – The Point/Benenson & DH Lawrence

City Students' Union - Byron

Brackenhurst Students' Union – Main Hall

Accessible toilets

Our venues have accessible toilets. You can find the full breakdown of locations on Maze Maps and AccessAble.

Some of these in our bar and nightclub spaces are RADAR key locked. Venue management or security staff will be able to give you access if required.

Join our Disability and Accessibility Network

The network is a community of students who come together to share experiences as disabled students and organise events and campaigns designed to improve the university experience of the students in their demographic.

Evacuation policy

Staff and Security teams are trained and on hand for assistance in emergency or first aid incidents. City and Clifton venues include refuge points with communication links on the first floor upwards. They also include evacuation chairs which trained Staff and Security teams can use if immediate evacuation is required. (These should only be used by trained staff.)

Strobe lighting

Events in our venues include strobe lighting and other lighting and haze-based effects.

We also hire our venues out to other users and promoters who may have their own production effects outside our control. Please contact us at the earliest opportunity if you would like any guidance regarding a specific event.

Tell us what we are missing

We appreciate that there is always more to be achieved to ensure a truly accessible and equitable online and on-campus offer for all students. Therefore, if there is something you think could be improved or you have any issues, please reach out to us in person, through our socials or via email.
