Report & Support
Report & Support is an online platform that makes reporting incidents quick and easy for the NTU community.
Everyone at Nottingham Trent University, whether studying, working, or visiting, has the right to feel safe. If you or someone you know has experienced or witnessed sexual misconduct, harassment, bullying, discrimination or a hate incident, please tell us. If you would rather report anonymously, you can do so.
An easy way to report incidents
That’s why the University has the Report + Support, an online platform for students, staff, and visitors to report sexual misconduct, harassment, bullying, discrimination or hate incidents. This platform allows the university to investigate incidents swiftly, offer people support, and take appropriate action.
Students and staff can choose to make reports anonymously or with contact details. (However, we can only formally investigate and support people where contact details are provided.)
What happens if I make a report?
Students are asked what they want to happen with their report. Depending on the incident’s nature, either Student Support Services or Academic Registry (or both) will respond to the student. Reports made by staff are reviewed by HR.
Students making a report or staff supporting a student with one can seek advice and guidance before or afterwards through our NTSU Advice Service.

Hate Crime Reporting

Hate crime reporting
A hate crime is any criminal offence that you, or anyone else, perceives to be motivated by hostility or prejudice towards a protected characteristic: race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, transgender identity, misogyny, or alternative sub-culture. It can include verbal abuse, threats, intimidation, harassment, physical violence and property damage, in person or online.
Why report?
Hate crimes are reported far less than other crimes, which can leave victims unsupported. Reporting makes it more likely someone is held accountable, helps prevent others being targeted, and helps the police understand and tackle what’s happening locally.
If you witness a hate crime
Don’t assume the victim will report it. You can report it yourself, and your eyewitness account may be vital, for example to confirm the hate element where CCTV has no sound. You can also support the victim by checking in on them, asking how you can help, and offering to give a supporting statement without pressuring them. Hate crimes are recorded based on the victim’s or a bystander’s perception, so trust your judgement.
How the NTSU Advice Service can help
If your incident involves a member of NTU such as a student or staff member, the Report + Support platform may be your best option.
If the incident happened with a member of the public we can support you reporting this to the Police.
You can also report a hate crime confidentially through the True Vision National Reporting Platform or get local, independent assistance via Nottinghamshire Victim CARE if you prefer not to speak directly to the police.
