Sustainable Journeys

Embarking on budget-friendly and eco-conscious journeys as a Nottingham Trent student is surprisingly hassle-free!

Thanks to Nottingham City Council's commitment to carbon neutrality by 2028, sustainable transport options abound:

  • Glide around town on trams powered by renewable energy!
  • Hop on bio-fuel-powered buses, slashing C02 emissions by a whopping 84% compared to regular buses.
  • Pedal your way through the city with dedicated bike routes – give them a spin!

As if that's not enough, NTU is actively enhancing on-campus safety for students. Secure cycle storage and increased street lighting make it easier and safer for you to navigate without the need for a car.

But what does this mean for your carbon footprint? We've broken down the emissions for traveling one mile in each mode of transport. Let's dive into our carbon comparisons below:

Discover the green and wallet-friendly ways to travel to and around campus!

Getting to City Campus

City Campus is easily accessible by bus, tram, cycling, or walking. Here's how:

Tram Convenience: NTU has its own tram stop at the heart of City Campus. Jump on at home and step off just minutes away from your lectures. Grab a discounted day, week, month, or academic pass through the NetGo app or at the platform. Remember to snag your ticket before boarding to avoid fines!

Local Explorer: Living nearby? Walk or cycle to campus and stay fit while saving cash. Nottingham is pedestrian-friendly, and NTU has cycling infrastructure for secure bike storage. No bike? No worries! Rent one from NTU Bike Hub for just £49 a year.

Drive Smart: If you're driving from afar, plan your journey wisely. City centre parking is limited, and there's no on-campus parking for students. Utilise recommended sites like The Forest, Phoenix Park, or Toton Lane, and catch a tram serving Toton Lane or Clifton South.

Getting to Clifton Campus

Although Clifton Campus is a bit further, you can still connect effortlessly:

Student-Friendly Ride: The Number 4 bus stops on campus, right outside the Students' Union building. During term-time, this bus runs between City and Clifton campus, offering a discounted pass when you show your student ID.

Tram Trek: Trams between Clifton South and Phoenix Park run close to Clifton Campus. A 15-minute walk from Rivergreen tram stop provides a breath of fresh air!

Getting to Brackenhurst Campus

Escape the city centre traffic with the Number 26 bus to Southwell, stopping right outside NTU Brackenhurst Campus every 30 minutes!

Getting to Confetti Campus

Confetti is a short walk or bike ride from the city centre, with convenient bus options:

  • Blue Line: 39, 40, 41, 42
  • Lilac Line: 24, 25, 26, 27
  • Red Line: 43, 44
  • Pathfinder 26
