Headshot of NTSU's Vice-President Community & Welfare, Zoë MallettThis idea was passed by Union Meeting on Thursday 26th October 2020, after which it was discussed with NTU at Executive Student Forum. NTU are continuining their existing work promoting blood donation, particularly at the Blood Donation Centre near city campus. Due to the pandemic, and the use of space by NTU's extensive Lateral Flow Testing program, the University is currently unable to provide the space needed for a socially distanced pop-up donation, but will engage with NHSBT in the future to discuss further options.

As a big believer in giving back, I found one of the easiest ways of giving, is blood. My suggestion is to have a blood donation van at each 4 campus on a weekday so both students and staff can pop in and save a life. One of the biggest reasons people don't give blood is having the time, not knowing of a location to go to and thinking 'I'll do it one day' but never actually doing it. I think this solution will answer the problems.

I have attached some facts about giving blood.

I currently commute to uni and have a part time job so it's difficult to find a time or day to give blood. Still haven't managed to do it yet so this would be amazing and I feel like a lot more people would donate if it's literally at their door step
