Dear NTSU,

The Boots Library or any other building on campus should have a private mulit-faith room, for individuals to pray.

I was shocked when an individual had to pray on the dirty library floor. For a university that encoruages diversity and has such a large diversity of individuals, the facilities in relation to faith and religion are inadequate. Students and staff should feel comfortable and respected for exercising their religion and the least that could be done in honour of this is to provide students and staff with a room for prayer. This was contrary to what I witnessed when walking past the individual praying on the floor in the library, I felt disrespectful invading their time of worship, so I can only imagine how the indiviual felt themselves, likely that they felt disrespected by NTU and uncomfortable.

Given students and staff spend the majority of their time on campus, I am sure multiple occasions arise in need for prayer or meditation. Additionally, with the current demands of univeristy work and the near future appraoch of exam season it only seems appropriate to have a safe, relaxing space for individuals to feel at comfort.

If there is already a room designated to prayer and meditation then I suggest there should be more advertising for this, as this would encourage the freedom of individuals to act to their religion and feel respected by NTU.
