Headshot of NTSU's Vice-President Postgraduate, Bennedict WillsThank you for your Big Idea. It was discussed at Student Council on 5th October 2021 where they decided not to take it forward. Instead, we will work with NTU to develop relationships with some local repair shops and signpost them for students, as well as any discounts they are able to negotiate. If you have any questions, please email VPPostgraduate@su.ntu.ac.uk.

During the previous years affected by covid-19 there has been a large shift towards online learning and a fresh weight placed on technology and computers.

This when everything runs smoothly is a great teaching tool that can support students through the future and allow them to fit studies around emergencies and unexpected life events.

However, when things do not run smoothly, a laptop battery gives out, a screen gets knocked off a desk or a pet chews a cable, university can become a stressful experience. Though many services are provided around technology such as libary computers etc, these often don't fit the specifications of softwares used by students or simply aren't set up to be comfortable like someone's private pc.

To combat this stress and also the expense of computer repairs from many vendors I would like to propose a university hosted and supported repair center, where repairs can be done by a reliable and trustworthy team inside the university with reduced costs to repair personal electronics.

The university used to have an "IT Pitstop", I still think there's singage up around the city campus.
