Start a society

Can’t find a society you want? Thought of a new one that does not exist?

Step one

Find others who think it’s a good idea too.

To complete a New Society Application you need a minimum of 3 society group leaders, 15 interested members and a unique, strong set of aims and objectives. If your society will be based at one of our Brackenhurst, Confetti, or Mansfield campuses, you'll only need 8 interested members. All the more reason to get stuck in.

If you need help with the process, speak to an Opportunities Coordinator first.

Step two

Complete an application form.

If you have met the minimum requirements then you can fill out the application.

Step three

Meet with an Opportunities Coordinator.

Once you have sent off your application, an Opportunities Coordinator will arrange to meet with you to discuss your application.

Step four

Wait to hear from NTSU Executive Committee.

If your application is accepted by the Opportunities Coordinator it will then be sent to NTSU's Executive Officers for approval or disapproval. 

Step five

Complete online training and paperwork.

If your application is accepted by the Executive Committee you must complete online training, a constitution and a development plan.

Step six

Run your first event or activity.

You have 6 term weeks to run your first event or activity.

Step seven

Congratulations on your new society.

Now you can continue to recruit more members, organise events and have fun.
