Following lobbying from your Student Union Officers, NTU have pushed to eliminate all non-biodegradable waste from their catering outlets and open days, and are continuing to pursue more sustainable projects.

NTU holds a great standar for being environmentally aware and progressive. However, across it's campuses single use plastic such as straws and plastic cutlary are present. These items are completly unnecessary and terrible for the environment. Even if people dispose of single use plastic properly, the items that aren't recyclable will end up on a landfill & be blow into our oceans to kill the beautiful, essential creatures that we share our home with. Therefore, I propose that NTU bans single use plastic & discontinues to purchase it to aid environmental causes.

This would set a great precedent and example to other Students Unions across the country on a critical environmental issue

Thank you for this big idea, it was taken to student council and passed! So this will be implemented.
