My name is Kaycie Brant, and I’m currently enrolled in the LLB Distance Learning program. I’m reaching out because I’d love to explore ways to help foster a stronger sense of community among distance learners at NTU.

I recently completed a distance learning program at Royal Roads University, where they put a lot of effort into onboarding and year-round engagement specifically tailored for remote students. During onboarding, they hosted interactive online games like scavenger hunts to help students learn how to navigate digital resources. They even offered prizes redeemable at the student shop for merchandise, which added a fun incentive.

Throughout the year, they kept the momentum going with activities like social media challenges, bingo nights, and other creative events that made us feel connected despite the physical distance. These initiatives really helped build a sense of belonging and made the experience much more enjoyable.

As someone who’s currently feeling a bit isolated in my studies, I’d love to be part of creating something similar here, an online community and fun events that bring distance learners together. I believe it could make a meaningful difference for many of us.

Warm regards,
Kaycie Brant
