To whomever it may concern,

 

I think it would be a good idea to have a refill station at the SU shop, with items such as washing up liquid, pasta, rice etc.

 

Sustainability is something very important and relevant to todays society and as a university, I think NTU does a good job of promoting this such as the SiE project for NBS. I think NTSU can take this a step further by encouraging students to shop in a sustainable way and reduce their plastic consumption. 

 

This idea would work by students bringing in empty bottles and containers and buying the refills by weight. This can be done by weighing the empty containers and then reweighing after the refill and subtracting the empty container weight. 

 

To encourage students to use this facility, you could allow the credit on the student ID cards to be used on products from the refill station. 

 

I have spoken to the NTU Sustainability Society and friends of mine and I have gained support from 70+ people. I am more than happy to create a petition and distribute this to NTU students to gain further support.

 

I think this would be a fantastic thing for the university/ SU to provide for the students and sets a great example.
