NTSU

Wondering how your Students’ Union could help you improve your university experience in 2020? Here’s everything you need to know.

Experience new things

It’s our job to help you get the most out of your time at NTU and there are many opportunities we offer to help make that happen.

  • Entertainment

Our entertainments programme is one of the most diverse in the country. Quizzes, clothing sales and day trips around the country are just some of what we offer.

  • Societies

NTSU has more than 150 societies, meaning there’s one for every interest. Joining is a great way to meet new people and try your hand at a new skill. Browse an A-Z list of all our societies here.

  • Give it a Go

You don’t have to be a member of a society to get involved. Our Give it a Go programme means you can participate in events and activities on a one-off basis around your other commitments.

  • Sport

Sport at Trent is run by the University, not NTSU. Find out more here.

Get the most out of your studies

We’re not just here for the fun stuff. NTSU helps to improve your academic experience. Here’s how we support your studies:

  • Academic representation

NTSU’s Academic Reps work alongside our VP Education and the University to put in place important changes relating to your studies. If you have feedback that could improve your course or school, they can help make it happen. You can find out who your Academic Reps are on our NOW homepage or contact your VP Education here.

  • Information and Advice Service (IAS)

Our IAS offers free, impartial advice on everything from money matters to mental health. They can also lend a helping hand when it comes to your studies. Whether you need to submit an academic appeal or are struggling to keep up with your deadlines for personal reasons, contact them here.

  • Skills workshops

Our events can be a great way to unwind from your studies, but they can also help support them. We run educational events and workshops throughout the year that are designed to help you learn new skills and succeed. See a full programme of all our events here.

Make your voice heard

As a democratic organisation, NTSU is run by you, our members. That means you have the power to make important changes to your university experience. Here’s how you can do that.

  • Big Ideas

The Big Ideas scheme allows you to submit ideas for changes you’d like to see at the Students’ Union and University. We’ll do our best to make them happen.

  • Become a representative

If you want to play a more proactive role in making those changes happen, you can become a representative at the Students’ Union. From our full-time Exec Officers to part-time Committee Members, there are several positions you can run for when Election nominations open in February. Watch this space for details.

You can find more detailed information on all the opportunities we offer here on our website or by getting in touch with one of your representatives.
