Claim your £150 energy bill rebate by Weds 14th September

Monday 12-09-2022 - 10:00

Did you live in private accommodation on 1st April 2022? You might be eligible for a payment of £150 to help with rising energy bills.

The UK government recently announced a one-off payment of £150 for people who pay council tax. This includes properties that have a class N exemption from paying council tax due to being solely occupied by students.

If you were a student living in private accommodation (rather than university accommodation such as halls of residence) in Nottingham City on 1st April 2022 then you are eligible to receive this rebate if:

  • You were living at the address on 1st April 2022, and it was your sole or main residence
  • The property was rated for Council Tax in bands A-D
  • The rebate has not already been claimed by another household member

Please note that the payment is made per household, not per person. You will need to choose a household member to make the claim on your behalf and share the payment with the other residents.

To make a claim, you’ll need to provide the bank account details that you want the payment to be made to, as well as your student ID number for identification purposes.

You must apply for your rebate by Wednesday 14th September.

Make your claim through the Nottingham City Council website
