What is Club of the Week?
Each week the Students’ Union recognises the achievements of NTU’s sports clubs by awarding two Club of the Week awards – one for an on-pitch sport and one for off-pitch.
Both clubs win £50 to put towards their club as well as a featured space on the NTSU website.
This week’s winners:
On-pitch winner: Dance
What the club achieved:
NTU Dance sold out its annual showcase just before Christmas with over 150 dancers performing for their fellow students.
The event was hosted at NTSU for the first time ever and featured more clubs than any year previously including FFC, Bhangra, Latin and Ballroom.
The Showcase took a whole term and a lot of dedication from the committee to organise so selling out was a real achievement.
Off-pitch winner: Burlesque
What the club achieved:
Following Burlesque’s Christmas show, the club was able to donate £560 to their chosen charity! Supporting Opportunities In Memory of Philippa and Becky provides opportunities for students studying Fashion Management, Marketing and Communication at NTU and it’s the most money the club has ever raised.
The donation was even more of an achievement given that Burlesque had welcomed so many new members to perform at their first show of the year.
