He has extensive experience with over 20 years in the sector — the last six of which have been at NTSU. Phil is currently the Deputy CEO at Nottingham Trent Students' Union, and prior to this, he was NTSU's Head of Membership Services.
Phil also held several roles at Manchester Metropolitan Students' Union, including Opportunities Manager and Deputy Site Manager. He will take up his new post in June.
Phil said. "It is an honour and a privilege to be asked to lead Nottingham Trent Students' Union as CEO. NTSU is a leading Union that consistently delivers high-quality representation, support, and services for its members. I am excited to work with our amazing staff, students, and trustees to further grow and develop the Union to meet the needs of our members. I also look forward to working in partnership with the University, local community, and other organisations that make Nottinghamshire such a great place for students to study and live."
Conor Naughton, NTSU President 2020-22, said, "During the detailed and comprehensive recruitment process, Phil continually demonstrated a clear passion, expertise, and vision that aligned with the values and mission of NTSU.
NTSU is brilliantly poised to continue to grow and develop, achieving great things for our members, and Phil is the perfect person to take the organisation forward to realise this.
At the end of the academic year, we will be saying goodbye to our current long-serving CEO, Ceri Davies, as he steps down after twelve years of outstanding service and leadership of NTSU. We would like to thank Ceri for his incredible work transforming the Union into the hugely successful organisation it is today, which has positively impacted thousands of students in his time as CEO."
