Thursday 6th June saw the culmination of The 2013 Outstanding Teaching Awards with an awards ceremony bringing the year to a close with a celebration of academic success.

The Outstanding Teaching Awards provide an opportunity to recognise all the excellent teaching and support staff at Nottingham Trent University.

For the last few weeks, students have been voting for the tutors, lecturers and support staff whom they felt had made the most positive impact on their learning this academic year. Nominations were made in two categories: Outstanding Teacher of the Year and Outstanding Support Team of the Year.

The awards were presented at an evening ceremony held at The Old Library in the Arkwright Building featuring live entertainment from the talented students of NTU's music society. Students, along with staff from NTU and Nottingham Trent Students' Union were in attendance to show recognition for the hard work and dedication shown by NTU teaching staff during this academic year.

NTSU President Elect, Jo Southwell-Sander, who hosted the night said "The NTSU Outstanding teaching awards is a great event and Thursday was no exception! Out of the 900+ nominations, the school reps and myself had to painfully narrow the shortlisted nominees down to just 45 university staff who have made huge impacts on students.

"To get such a nomination is truly amazing. The comments that were submitted were very touching and it was no easy feat to pick winners. The evening itself was filled with celebration and enthusiasm as staff were commended for the great things they had been recognised for by their students. Congratulations and thank you to all of the nominees!"
