What we have been doing summer 2016
Hello everyone!
Welcome to Nottingham Trent University to all new starters and welcome back to our returning students, I hope you’ve all had a fantastic summer and are looking forward to the year ahead.
It’s a pleasure to serve as your president at Nottingham Trent Students’ Union for this academic year and I’ve been working with the other officers over the summer to ensure the Students’ Union is ready to support you and make your year ahead the best it can possibly be.
So, what have we been doing over the summer?
The obvious one is planning freshers week which is led by the VP services who has been working on providing freshers with an amazing experience. The freshers team volunteers who are there to help move in and integrate the freshers into the student community have been trained and they are ready to help the new intake of students over the course of freshers week.
Over the past year, the executive team have successfully achieved many things for students, some of them are:
- Degree show funding for Art and Design school courses
- Ensured the University kept the rate of increase in hall costs in line with inflation
- Worked with the University to implement the lecture capture technology
- Put on the first ever Trent talent show
- Ran the stamp out stress campaign to reduce student stress during exam period
- Introduced more academic societies with extra support from the University on the academic side.
- Held the biggest sports varsity series in the country

As elected officers, we are accountable to the students so we will provide you with regular monthly video updates via email to make you aware of what we’re achieving for you and provide you with information on upcoming plans we have to improve the Union over the course of the academic year.
