Want to learn more about Black Past? Be inspired by an incredible speaker and organisation? Come along to our first Black Futures event of the year.
“The Black Past” is an interactive talk by Boukman Academy that looks at various precolonial African societies, as the stories of monarchs and empires are concisely explained. The scientific and mathematical advancements across the African continent, their systems of governance, and some of their incredible monuments are also revealed. From the continent, we journey across the diaspora, looking at the history of the Black Radical Tradition in resistance to slavery, colonialism and racist oppression.
This event is free and will include a Q&A session at the end as a chance to ask questions and learn more.
Due to popular demand, we’ve moved the venue just upstairs to the Mezzanine, City SU.
