Book Launch: Black History Month

Join us for one of our biggest events for Black History Month this year, a book launch to celebrate the publication of The Cream: Stir It, Watch It, BUT…! by Mitzie Simms-Williams who studied at our very own Nottingham Law School.

A collection of 10 short stories; 10 main characters bring to light a narrative of struggle and endurance examined through the lenses of poverty, lack of opportunity and the concept of ‘advancement’. Mitzie will talk us through the journey of the book as well as lead a liberating panel discussion involving local women from different regions i.e Nigeria and Zimbabwe, speaking about the themes the book explores, such as love, family wrangling, deceit, revenge and colourism.

Come along to be empowered, educated, and inspired by women who have a voice to be heard. And bring your own voice to join the discussions and get networking.

You will be able to order Mitzie’s book at the event.

This event is free. Book now to guarantee your chance to meet the author and network.

Refreshments/snacks, including pound cake, will be provided. Please book a free ticket to reserve your place.
