International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) is held every year on May 17th to mark many things, including the date in 1990 that the World Health Organisation removed homosexuality from the Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems. The truth is this date wasn’t even too long ago and for many people who lived before the changes in classification, without wider acceptance of LGBTQIA+ identities, being out and proud could lead to incarceration, abuse and forced conversion therapies. Come visit us on May 17th in the City SU building for some games, quizzes and facts about this important day.
