Tick off two Nottingham classics from your bucket list in one afternoon!
Rebellions, riots and royal rows have all played out across the dramatic stage of Nottingham Castle. Recently renovated, the ducal mansion is in use as a museum and art gallery. Since reopening it continues to house most of the City of Nottingham's fine and decorative art collections, galleries on the rich history and archaeology of Nottingham. Discover more about the chronicles of the Castle, from Dukes and Ghosts, to Robin Hood, there's so much to see!
After that, grab a drink at the Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem pub, England's oldest inn, which is situated just at the foot of the Castle. It is said that King Richard the Lionheart and his men are more than likely to have gathered at this historic royal dwelling before journeying to Jerusalem in 1189AD, thus giving the pub its unusual name. Something of a cross between an inn and a museum, the pub features several bars, cosy nooks and snug lounges filled with curiosities and relics of Nottingham's history.
