Spring is a time for celebration and what better way to see in the season than by putting on your glad rags and dancing shoes?

Performing a selection of swing music to showcase the musical genre is Nottingham Trent University’s award-winning Big Band. NTU’s Big Band is made up of students, staff and members of the local community and is led by renowned trumpet player and musical director Pete Wraight. In 2018 the band won the platinum award at the national NCBF competition and has gone on to perform throughout Europe on their annual tour. They perform a vast repertoire, including jazz, Latin, swing and funk often featuring two or three talented vocalists. Performing in and around Nottingham, the Big Band can be seen at Peggy’s Skylight and Metronome throughout the year.

The celebration of swing music and culture will continue with performances by the Vintage dancers who will then be helping you put your best foot forward with their interactive finale. Specialising in Charleston, Vintage jazz and Electro Swing, the Vintage dancers demonstrate authentic dance techniques and styles ranging from the 1920’s to the 1950’s. Nottingham Spring Swing is thrilled to have this talented dance troupe showing some of their favourite swing dances with lifts and more!

The evening’s festivities will be captured by a professional videographer as well as a photographer to help you remember it for years to come!
