Charity CLIC Sargent are on the hunt for volunteers and we are giving you the chance to see the fantastic work they do first hand. This trip is a visit to Billy's House, a family house, designed to aid families whose relatives are currently undergoing cancer treatment at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham.
Billy’s House in Nottingham is named after cancer survivor Billy Greenall. There are six bedrooms in this large detached property. It is thanks to the incredible hard work of Billy's parents and co-chairs of Billy's Appeal that CLIC Sargent could raise more than £2million to develop and open this home in 2009. In one year alone 91 family stayed, lasting an average of 33 days.
Please note that during the visit families will be staying in the house and you may meet a young person or a family using the facility.
Please meet at 2pm at the welcome desk in the student's union at City Campus. Transport will be provided from the City campus to Billy’s house and back to the uni.
Following on from this visit there will be an intro talk on CLIC Sargent and the volunteering opportunities that are available should you want to volunteer. This session is taking place on 9th Oct at 5pm and will be held in the City Students Union in the Training Room (up the stairs and turn left through the double doors, it is the first door on your left). You can book onto this session via the website.
Please not during this session you will not be volunteering.
