The New Black’s Hate Crime Panel Discussion – the Experts’ View

In this discussion we will be exploring the broader aspect of hate crime in the UK with the help of local experts on hate crime.

With an appalling increase of over 29% of recorded episodes of hate crimes in the last 3 years, we want to explore recent events and hot topics to understand the dynamics of how hate crime impacts our society. We want this debate to create further awareness with regards to hate crime and explore different ways in which we can work together to prevent it.

Our panelists will include:

  • Afua Acheampong - NTSU VP Education.
  • Paddy Tipping - Police & Crime Commissioner for Nottinghamshire Police.
  • Clive Foster -  Multi-Faith Manager at Nottingham Trent University.
  • Sajid Mohammed - CEO & founder of Himmah, a social justice charity working for poverty, race and education equalities.
  • Heather Peto - Labour Trans Officer.
  • Esther Mason -  NTU Student and  Director of  Fearless Youth Association (FYA), which look to help young people affected by knife crime and trauma Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and cannabis misuse.
