This is Consocs first Grizzled Skipper work party of the new year!
It will see us maintaining a railway habitat at East Leake, by cutting back regenerating scrub and burning off the resulting brash. Grizzled skipper were first discovered at this site by Neil Pinder, back in 2012, as the result of a targeted survey in the first year of the Nottinghamshire Grizzled Skipper project. Since this time we have had good counts of the butterfly at this site, especially in 2015, 2017 and then earlier this year, we had our largest count to date with 15 GS butterflies recorded by Brian Johnson and David Martin during one visit. In recent years the site has also returned good records for the number of grizzled skipper eggs recorded too.
Christopher Jackson will be heading this event, Biodiversity Officer for Nottingham Biodiversity Action Group.
