NEW SOCIETY NOW LIVE!!!!!!
The team meet weekly on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 at Clifton Campus. At these meetings, which are casual, laid back and informal social gatherings, we discuss the forecasting charts for the next few days and post a general overview of our forecast on our social media pages, nah not the regular soc ones, BIGGER social media accounts! We are the NTU Interceptors! We post across various platforms aimed at the public eye to provide up to date, relevant forecasts and advice during extreme weather, with the occasional educational post aimed to further educate our glorious followers on the concepts of meteorology that we discuss in the posts we make! which of course we encourage you to check out if you are considering joining us! Of course the NTU society tradition of Ocean Wednesdays is also a weekly event (costumes and all!!)
In order to join us, you need absolutely nothin’! Despite the scientific nature of the soc it is not related to any ntu course and we are expecting most incoming members to have absolutely no clue what we’re on about and that’s fine, you'll be waffling away in no time, slang phrases and all!! Just come along with a sense of adventure, willingness to learn, and maybe a laptop if you have one.
We also hope to operate storm chasing expeditions across the UK, however at the current moment, this canot be facilitated as the group has no vehicles! These will be arranged as and when mother nature decides to be ‘herself’, and subject entirely to member availability and availability of vehicles, as these are unlikely to be on actual society meeting days and will take up most if not all of the day! (it's not uncommon to be chasing well into the night!) If you are thinking of joining us and you do have a vehicle and are willing to use it on a chase, please do come forward about this to one of the committee as this will open up the opportunity to chase to your fellow team members. The cost of the chases will be arranged for each one, and will only consist of reimbursing drivers for the cost of the fuel they used on the chase. We may also schedule smaller, one off meetings throughout the week/few days before a chase day. For these we realise most members may have other commitments, and that's fine, they’re not mandatory, just a few of us meeting up to give everyone the chance to be involved in the planning and behind the scenes of the chases!
If you have any questions or concerns about us, do consider reaching out, as we’d love to hear from you!!
