What is this group?
The L.E.D.I Group is a group that allows Disabled Students to come together and speak about things that concern them as a student at NTU. Whether that be regarding academia, welfare, or overall concerns regarding their student experience. This space will include a member of the executive team (VP Community & Welfare and Student Voice) who will facilitate the meetings and take notes. Where issues such as inaccessibility and disabled student-related issues arise, those relevant executive officers would be invited to take action to ensure the changes needed will be escalated to the relevant university committees, including NTSU Disability Representatives.
Why is this necessary?
Disabled Student L.E.D.I group is being proposed to ensure that disabled students are having their voice heard at the university. This also allows for disabled students to propose change and express concerns outside of a university space.
How Will This Work?
The Student Union will facilitate this group using their space (hybrid meetings will be available for those students who wish to attend online for whatever reason). These meetings will be a round table discussion meeting and will work closely with the NTSU disability representative framework being set up in order to ensure collaborative working and communication between the university representation and L.E.D.I group.
- sincerely,
a disabled student.
