Progress on your Big Ideas

President

The Students’ Union has helped to turn three of your Big Ideas into realities!

Our Big Ideas scheme gives you the opportunity to submit suggestions for changes you would like to see put in place at the SU or University. Three of the ideas put forward this academic year are due to be implemented in 2019. They are:

  • Communal charging points – charge your personal devices in a secure locker on campus.
  • University as guarantor for international students – for students from around the world who need a local guarantor to secure accommodation.
  • On-site childcare provisions – for students balancing parenting alongside their studies.

The charging points are being installed in Boots library in early 2019. The University will be trialling its guarantor programme with selected international students over the summer and a working group has been set up with the intention of creating a childcare provision on campus for student parents in the near future.

A fourth Big Idea that focuses on improving the University’s vegan food offering was passed at the term one Union Meeting, so watch this space for updates!

If you have any ideas for ways to improve the University or Students’ Union, visit our Big Ideas page or email me with the details. We will do wha we can to make them happen.
