Student Opportunities

Societies

Meet students who share your passions and make time to socialise with them regularly.

Joining an NTSU society is one of the best decisions you can make at NTU – it’s your chance to dive into campus life, discover new hobbies, and create lasting friendships.

What’s a Society?

Societies are student-run groups that bring people together around a shared interest – whether that’s a sport, culture, cause, creative outlet or something totally unique. They host regular, varied and inclusive activities, giving you plenty of opportunities to learn new skills, boost your CV, and make memories.

Students tell us time and again that their society is one of the highlights of their NTU experience. Whether you’ve already got a passion you want to share or just fancy meeting new people, get involved – you’ll be glad you did.

Looking for a job while studying? Check out our Student Jobs page for current vacancies.

Nottingham Trent Students' Union (NTSU) is one of the UK's largest and most active unions, dedicated to enhancing student life through events, support, and representation. We employ over 300 students and 60 career staff, fostering an inclusive and dynamic community.

Our key focuses include people and culture, sustainability, and learning and development. Since 2022, we have achieved EcoCampus Silver Accreditation, an 'Excellent' rating as a Green Impact Students' Union, and now divert 97% of in-house waste from landfill, aiming for Net Zero by 2040.

As an Equal Opportunities and Disability Confident Employer, we welcome applicants from all backgrounds. Due to high application volumes, we may not provide feedback for unsuccessful applications. If you don’t hear from us within four weeks of the closing date, your application was not successful this time.

What is a Students' Union?

A Student Union is a student-led organisation whose main purpose is to represent the best interests of all students on the issues they may face. A Student Union is independent of the University and many (including us) are affiliated with the National Union of Students (NUS).
