In this session we will introduce to one of the most interesting people to have walked this Earth (from a medical physics point of view, at least). ✨Alexander Litvinenko✨ started his life working as a spy for the Soviet Union, but somehow managed to start working for Britain, spying on the Soviet Union instead. Finishing his career and officially living in Britain, he thought all danger had passed... Until *bam* internal radiation poisoning by drinking tea (clearly he integrated too well in the English culture☕🫖)!!

This had a massive medical fall-out as anyone who had been in contact with him could also be poisoned (externally). A crazy connect the dots game where many people had to hand in urine samples followed, whilst Alexander Litvinenko was slowly degrading and remains the only person to date who died of internal radiation poisoning.

We will be streaming a webinar on this subject as taught by the former president of the Society for Radiation Protection; John Croft😮. And we will also be providing free refreshments to those attending this event!! For this reason, please book your free ticket, so we know how many people to expect and can purchase drinks accordingly😊.

We have exclusive acces to a short Q&A after the webinar streaming, where everyone can ask to hear more about the topics that so intrigued them.
Your NTU Physics staff, Elmar Slikboer (and hopefully Nick Evans), will be attending to answer any additional questions as well.

The session itself will be held in CTLP07 (ground-level of the teaching and learning building). After the session we will be heading to a more relaxed environment to discuss this exciting topic even further😁!
