NTSU is currently in the implementation phase of our new sustainability strategy.

We are proud to release our first ever Sustainability Strategy for NTSU.

Within this ambitious strategy, we commit to improve our environmental sustainability through seven key areas of activity.

    • Circulate annual staff travel survey
  2. Complete carbon footprint 2023 24

    • Complete carbon footprint for year 2023 24
  3. Start new year calculations

    • Begin calculating carbon footprint for 2024 25
    • Publish first Sustainability Report for 2023 24
  4. Waste baseline and reporting

    • Publish Carbon Report 2023 24
    • Assess waste streams and develop waste reduction pathways
  5. Food waste campaign

    • Deliver a campaign to combat food waste with cost of living context
  6. Platinum EcoCampus prep

    • Prepare for Platinum EcoCampus audit
    • Consult Student Council to progress the NTSU sustainability strategy and engage under represented groups
  7. Accreditation

    • Achieve Platinum EcoCampus status and ISO14001
  8. Strategy review and reporting

    • Review Sustainability Strategy
    • Publish Carbon Report 2024 25
  9. Single use reduction and training

    • Reduce single use plastics and disposable containers across venues
    • Training for staff on sustainable procurement and supplier engagement
  10. Student net zero consultation

    • Consult with students on net zero carbon progress
  11. Infrastructure efficiency

    • Work with NTU and UPP on sub metering for SU spaces and lobby for efficient lighting and heating
  12. External verification

    • Submit GISU for external verification
  13. Cadence

    • Annually with NTU retain at least one external accreditation
    • January publish carbon footprint report
    • September publish sustainability report
    • Termly waste audits
